In Illinois, the number of EMTs and Paramedics is expected to grow by 10% between 2012 and 2022, with 137 new job openings projected per year (not counting replacements). The median salary for EMTs & Paramedics in the Chicago metro area was $54,344 in 2014.

Education Requirements
150-300 instruction hours for EMTs, 1,200 credit hours and in some cases an associate degree for Paramedics.
